Junior School Playground

The Junior School Playground is here at the School in boxes!  

Due to the current Junior School Building Program of two additional classrooms, it has delayed the construction of the playground.  The playground will be constructed once the building works are finished, so that it is not in the way of the builders, as the building fence is currently across where the playground is to be erected.  

It is anticipated that the Junior School Playground will be constructed from October, 2012.

Junior School Building Program

As one building project concludes (building of the PD Draper Centre) another begins! In the same week that we celebrated the Opening of the PD Draper Centre, we saw the commencement of the Junior School  Classrooms being built.

Pictured above is a architect drawing of the proposed building, which will be two Junior School classrooms.  Pictured below is the footings of the building which have been completed, and were photographed today.

It is anticipated that these two classrooms will be completed late in 2012.

New Activities in the Junior School Playground

Mr Les Gilmore (a school parent) generously donated his time over the weekend, just past, to do a wonderful array of line markings in the Junior School area to engage our students in play.

There is a mini basketball court, handball courts, stepping stones of letters and numbers, to name a few of the colourful lines now on our concrete area.  We have already seen a number of Junior School students stepping out across the patterns to their classrooms and other play areas.

Thank you to Mr Gilmore and his children for their wonderful act of service.  We know that the Junior School students will benefit from your generosity.

Meeting Room Deck

Last year, a letter was sent home requesting that parents and staff prayerfully consider a donation to the School for a Meeting Room Deck.

As a staff, we were amazed at how many families were willing to invest in the life of the School and truly blessed by the response.  The target of monies was reached quickly and we hired Mr Dean Weatherhog (school parent) to construct the deck outside the meeting room.

We once again want to express our sincere gratitude to all those who have contributed financially to the life of this School.  In particular to the meeting room deck.  We are excited about this resource and believe that it will continue to build community in our school.

Our hands on Board Chairman

Mr Max Maddock (Board Chairman) and his wife Ruth are currently visiting Pacific Coast Christian School.  We are always excited by their visits, as Max is a hands-on type of Board Chairman.  Max gets involved in building projects around the school with our property team.

Max and the property team are currently building a teacher resource area and a new office for our Head of Senior School, Mr Stephen Moody at the end of our Library.

At the end of this project, the team will finish off building a Cafe inside the Food Tech room.

We are thankful to God for not only the leadership and direction of Max, but also his hands on and service to our School.

Opening of the PD Draper Centre

As a school community we gathered together on 26 April to celebrate the official opening of the PD Draper Centre (the hall).

As part of the Federal Government initiative of the Building Education Revolution, Pacific Coast was blessed with this wonderful resource of a multipurpose hall.

The Official Opening was well attended by special guests including Hon Justine Elliot, as well as our builders, board members, parents, friends and students of the school.

Our school hall has been named the PD Draper Centre to recognize the global contribution that our former Board Chairman, Mr Peter Draper has made to Christian Education.

Dr Tina Lamont said 'Today was a wonderful event in the life of the school and one of considerable significance. The PD Draper Centre opening was a tribute to the dedication of all involved today and for the hard work of so many'.

We are thankful to God for these resources that He has provided and for the opportunity to build community in the everyday use of resources such as the PD Draper Centre.
